Exercise Rehabilitation

One of the big issues in keeping fit for many of us as we age is dealing with ongoing injuries or muscular/ skeletal imbalances that keep us from being able to train as we would like.

Often it is an issue of refining the way in which we use our bodies. By varying our often very limited repertoire of exercises and improving technique we can usually bring the body back into alignment.  Keeping optimally fit as we get older is all about working smarter not harder. We pride ourselves at Essence in having a great rehab team that regularly deals with these problems for many of our members.  If you think you could benefit from some rehab expertise book a free consultation with Dan to discuss your condition.

Dear Dan

Just a short note to thank you for all your help with my knees over the last 3 months or so. Professor Max Kamien referred me to you last July as a “stop gap” pending me undergoing further surgery on my knees. He recommended your expertise in order to relieve the pain I was suffering. However, it was apparent even after a month or so of treatment from you that my knees were improving significantly. After 3 months my knees feel as good as they were after my last surgery 3 years ago and 95% of the pain I was suffering has gone away.

I saw my knee specialist, Graham Forward, last week and he confirmed what I expected – that it is no longer necessary for me to undergo further surgery on my knees as there is little if anything that surgery could do to improve on what you have done.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending you and Essence Lifestyle Changes to my family and friends and will do so whenever the need arises.

Regards,
David Fleming

Dear Dan,

Walking into Essence Lifestyle Changes with the inability to run or comfortably sit on a bike, you recommended that I undertake a rehabilitation programme consisting of core strength and flexibility. After a period of time, such was the improvement in my lower back that I have been able to get back on a bike even run again.

With my new found flexibility and core strength I participated in the 2006 Busselton Ironman, successfully completing the 180 km cycle leg in the Teams Division.

My rehabilitation has been given me the confidence to attempt sports and exercises that I would never have considered in the past. I have never felt stronger and now that we have tailored my rehabilitation programme, to one of strength and endurance I am planning to run the 2008 City to Surf and am also considering competing in the Busselton Half Ironman.

Without your guidance and support, I feel that these goals would never have been attempted by me.

Regards,
Mark Derecourt
